I’ve always sought opportunities outside my working life to tap into my own creativity & pretty much since I could afford my own camera, film & processing I have volunteered to make what I see in my mind’s eye a lasting memory for others to share. Here are some other Louise facts you may not know:
My Career
I’m a reformed banker/ business development manager/ strategist/ grant manager
My part-time job at uni motivated me to never fail
I’m not going to mention how long I’ve had a camera in my hand
I once had a job where ‘whale rescue’ training was mandatory
I even helped on a whale rescue, but I think quite a few ended up dying. They do that, sadly
I am a social media fanatic & obsess over my stats
I know I’m a nerd at heart, & I’m down with that
I’m fortunate that I’ve had a varied career, but it doesn’t make me unique
My Work
I believe that portraits are for your children’s grandchildren to gaze at & wonder
I am always creating something. Always
I believe that women are beautiful at any age
I believe that being healthy is not about weight
I use a light hand with photoshop
I tell stories with my camera, possibly because I’m terrible at telling jokes
I believe that true beauty shines from within when you are relaxed & feel great about yourself
I believe that to give love you must know love
I always look for the light but love to experiment with shadow
I believe that through my images I can change the way EVERY client sees themselves
My Life
I embrace that I am taller than 99% of the women I know
I swoon at the very thought of peonies
I adore that my dogs like to cuddle
I am a reformed red velvet cupcake addict
I don’t compare myself to airbrushed images in magazines, ever
I love listening to Duran Duran, AC/DC & Talking Heads LOUD
I have a great, great, great Uncle who was an award winning photographer in London
A little bite of dark chocolate makes most things seem better
I’ve been to every Kylie Minogue concert except one
I was an exchange student in rural Japan
I would knit for beer, the colder the better
I am a really great cook, in my own imagination
I have a long standing love affair with very bendy yoga
I know I watch too much tv at times
I have a love hate relationship with beading tutus
I wish I hadn’t thrown away all my childhood trophies for netball, tennis and hockey
I’d see any movie with Vin Diesel in it. More than once.
I’m fascinated at the family history research that my Mum did, going back a few hundred years
My sister once convinced me that my real name was:
Louise Alice Jane Maree Alexandra Cornelius Martha Duck
She just rang me to make sure I spelled it correctly
I don’t think I will ever sate my lust for camera gear
I love reading espionage novels & autobiographies
I cook a mean slow cooked curry
I used to laugh at my sister & Mum when they said wine gave them an instant headache
Since I turned 30, If I drink wine, I get an instant headache
I have no explanation as to why I believed that was my name until I was about 8
There are lots of photos of me as a child but not many as a woman as I’m always behind the lens, don’t make the same mistake yourself
I used to ride up front on my brother’s motorbike from the age of 2 (in the country)
I’ve been in the parade at Carnivale in Rio. Yes, it was wild! Yes, my costume was the size of a hankerchief
I like to think my sister’s wine headaches are karma for embellishing my name
I believe in equal love, equal rights
Each challenge I overcome seems to outdo the last, so I don’t think I’ve completed ‘the hardest thing I’ve ever done’ yet!
Often behind the camera & rarely in front I still understand how nerve wracking it can be to entrust someone else with creating a lasting image of you. But I am inviting you to trust me. Trust that together we will create something that you are truly proud to own.
I can’t wait to spoil you, so contact me & let’s start designing your photo session in my boutique studio setting.
